Horse Racing Selection 21/08/2020 (York Ebor Meeting)

13:45 York (Sky Bet Handicap) — Zabeel Champion 7/4 2.5pt Win

The opening contest from York on Day three, It looks all to easy to me and I will take Zabeel Champion to carry on improving.

Marginally denied when going for the hat-trick at Goodwood, he didn’t look in love with the track and looked as if today’s step up in trip would really suit.

Outpaced in closing 2-furlongs he found top gear late on, finishing strong only managing 2nd on the day. A reproduction of that effort would probably be good enough to feature and now tackling further there is every chance he could be an even better performer.

14:15 York (Lonsdale Cup Group 2) — Dashing Willoughby 3/1 1pt Win

Finally, someone else gets a chance to win the Lonsdale Cup. Superstar stayer Stradivarius has set his sights at the Arc meaning he will hand over his crown after holding it for the past 2 years.

I think this is a straight match up between Nayef Road and Dashing Willoughby, I will be siding with the latter who has been plying his trade at a lower level than this but has been winning and justifies his place in the Group 2.

Nayef Road has had some tough races, coming up against Stradivarius on two of his last three runs. I think this horse is better suited quicker ground and with Dashing Willoughby more proven its helped me decide.

I’m also not keen on Enbihaar who although should prove better over further, hasn’t got ideal conditions and would prefer fast ground to be seen at her best.

Dashing Willoughby will need to improve to win this, he has been improving with each and every run this season. Looking more the finished article now I think he should have a good chance.

14:45 York (Gimcrack Stakes Group 2) — Yazaman 4/1 1.5pts Win

I will be giving a chance to Yazaman to redeem himself after what has been a really frustrating season for his backers.

A winning debut he showed signs a talent, giving weight away he managed a cosy win over a fair field. He has gone from strength to strength since, starting with his staying on 2nd at Royal Ascot behind Tactical.

He looked as if the extra distance would suit on his next two starts, I have no reason to believe he regressed for the step up in trip. He has bumped into two very smart horses and that might be the case again today just bumping into one but I think on paper he is the best horse in the race.
